Dion- the almighty Dion Horstmans looks like an intimidating guy. He’s almost 7’ with broad shoulders, piercing blue eyes and a kind of “pressence” about him. Get beyond that, and anyone will see that Dion is a lovable, funny, creative Bondi Beach staple who also happens to be a highly esteemed artist among art critics and collectors. His sculptures are strong, dynamic, multi-dimensional pieces with strong geometric lines.
My influence has come from tribal motifs, bold lines, diamonds and triangle shapes.

Dion’s Bondi apartment is a bold expression of his interests and passions. There is a delicious clash of dark walls and high ceilings with ornate decorative moulding details. A collection of wildly colorful artworks, sculptures & ornaments adorn every wall and shelf.
I have a croc skull I have from Papua New Guinea- killed it, ate it, cleaned it then brought it back to Sydney

His diverse collection of pieces are from all eras and places. They’re a reflection of where Dion comes from (born in New Zealand, raised between NZ and the cook islands) who he is and what he stands for. His eclectic collection of artworks and relics each have a story.
I love my king size bed, I designed it then made it… it’s huge, a super king, it’s like a floating heli pad

I’m constantly reinventing myself, trying to stay fresh, trying to stay excited.

I have this crazy piece of 19 century german porcelain, it’s got swan’s on it and all manner of strange fruits, it stands about a metre high, it’s so over the top, the craftsmanship in making it blows me away

Dion’s interiors defy logic but they also perfectly work together- just like his artworks.
